The film score for the 2015 movie Inside Out was composed by Michael Giacchino. The music in the film helps describe the feelings of the characters and the mood the writers want to convey to the audience. Giacchino utilized an orchestra in order to compose the music for this film. The movie begins with the birth of a baby girl to two happy parents. The music is fast paced and uplifting telling the audience how joyful this moment is. The emotions inside the main character’s head begin to reveal themselves and the scene is set for the rest of the film. The emotions determine how the character (Riley) reacts to different situations. Also, they have the ability to bring up memories from her life. He recalls the memories he had with Riley and the adventures they took when she was a child. Sadness comforts him and eventually Bing Bong wipes his tears and continues to the train station so they can get back to headquarters. During this part, the music crescendos, speeds up, and resembles more of an uplifting harmony to show the excitement of the …show more content…

Joy finally finds a way back to headquarters, and Sadness stops Riley from leaving her family. The emotions then realize how important Sadness is in Riley’s life, and slow, soft music plays in the background. Next, Riley has her first core memory in her new home and the melody from the beginning of the movie plays. Overall, the 2015 movie Inside Out is composed of mainly non-diegetic music. There were fast, uplifting parts to the background music as well as soft, depressing parts. The music in the movie was composed using an orchestra. At times, certain instruments or groups of instruments could be distinguished such as a tuba and the strings section. Sound effects were also utilized throughout the movie. In order to tie the whole movie together, Giacchino played the same melody at the beginning and end of the
