“Macbeth” Analysis Around 1606, one of the greatest renowned tragedies was created. Shakespeare’s dark tragedy begins with the introduction of a courageous man named Macbeth. After a successful battle, he receives an improbable prophecy from a triad of witches proclaiming he will become king. Consumed by his desire, Macbeth murders the esteemed King Duncan in order to take the throne for himself. Agonized with remorse and paranoia, he becomes a cruel monarch and is compelled to commit numerous murders to guard himself from animosity and suspicion. This carnage rapidly takes Macbeth and his wife into a realm of insanity and tyranny.
