Hello, sir. From your story, I believe that you have killed an elderly man. We both know that you have a disease, and I believe you may have insanity. Nevertheless, as your attorney, I know that what you have done could result in prison. In fact, some people are executed for actions similar to yours. I know that you don’t consider yourself insane. However, it will be in your best interest to plead guilty under insanity as it will lower potential jail time and prevent execution.

To prove you are insane, you must present a case. In your story, before you killed the old man,you claimed, “I heard all things from the heavens and the Earth. I heard many things in hell.” Clearly, this is an auditory hallucination, a common symptom of several mental

During the time before the murder, he claimed that once conceived, the man’s pale blue, vulture-like eye haunted him day and night. This shows that my client was not in control of his emotions while he considered killing the man. In fact, while killing the man, he acted very sporadically, or without thought, when attacking the man. After he heard the old man screaming, he claimed, “With a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped into the room,” in which he proceeded to suffocate the old man with a bed. Obviously, my client unable to understand morality at this point, and acted instinctively, or at the moment, without premeditation. Additionally, a man who was trying to cover the screams of someone else would not yell, as that would draw more attention to a scene of murder. After the murder, from his claim, his initial thought was, “He was stone dead. His eye would trouble me no more.” After a murder, sane people would be anxious, fearful, or show some emotion. I, Judge Awotwi, presided over the mock trial State Prosecution vs. Macbeth, and it is my duty to uphold the rule of law and instruct true justice upon this issue. The defendant entered a plea of insanity due to delusional compulsion before this court on October 24, 2017, after committing beyond a doubt one count of murder and two counts of felony murder. The question is not whether Macbeth committed these crimes, or if he is judged to be found guilty; it is to judge if the defendant “did not have [the] mental capacity to distinguish between right and wrong”, and that is the responsibility of the court (16-3-2). Due to the facts presented in court I have come to a verdict. The defense’s unique argument and main points overwhelmed the predominant…
