Physical pain was an everyday struggle.Physical pain was a daily thing for Tubman and her family. Physical pain was normal for slaves. The slave breaker known as Edward Covey was cruel to Douglass, but then Douglass fought back and Edward Covey never beat him again. Douglass always got beat, but was sick and tired of pain so stood up for himself and never got beaten again.
Slaves had to witness their families getting split up to other plantations.Tubman’s owner sold three of her sisters to far away plantations. Her life was terrible and cruel to her and her family.
