Inner strength is not a genetic trait that all champions are born with; it is a type of resiliency that troubled people yield when the world seems to act against them. Having the mental stability to overcome hardships is a sign of inner strength. Inner strength is depicted throughout the plot of The Art of Resilience- a research paper written by Hara Estroff Marano. Additionally, the main character in “The Third and Final Continent” must possess inner strength to conquer the conflict of his story. Likewise, the characterization in Scott Westerfield’s Uglies uncovers the true significance of inner strength in a society ruled by perfection.
