Trayvon Martin, Rosa Parks, Mike Brown and Tamir Rice. What do all these people have in common? They are victims. Victims of injustice. It is apparent that these people are victims of injustice without a doubt from what we have heard from the news and social media outlets such as The New York Times, CNN and Facebook. But what is injustice? “Injustice is the lack of fairness or justice.” Personally, I think that injustice is when someone or a group of people are given unfair and illogical consequences. There are 3 predominant types of injustices incredibly relevant to today’s society locally and internationally. These are the social, political and racial injustice.

Political injustice is seen in every corner of the world. For example: in some countries it is still illegal for women to drive, people of colour are still treated with bias and recently wearing religious symbols or clothes have been banned around several countries around the world. In current times, according to The Telegraph, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Chad, Cameroon, Niger, Congo – Brazzaville, Turkey, and Switzerland have banned the wearing of veils. This means that Muslim women can no longer wear a burqa or a hijab. Furthermore, women caught wearing any religious symbol or clothing will be punished with a fine or even imprisonment. It is simply ironic for these countries to proclaim freedom and equality for everyone when the banning of wearing religious symbols contradict the very freedom and equality they preach and seek to uphold. In my opinion the banning of wearing a veil violates the right to the freedom of religion for Muslim women. The decisions of these countries to ban the wearing of a veil, threatens the right of its citizens to have the freedom of religion, has exercised a definite exemplary action of what is it to commit political
