But most players don’t understand what constantly falling on the different parts of your body (especially knees) and the constant pivoting, jumping, running, and sudden stops can do to your body. ACL (or anterior cruciate ligament) injuries have affected many players. One example from the NBA is Derrick Rose who has had 3 ACL injuries in his career and may never be the player he used to be again. A very common injury is sprained, and or torn ankles which have majorly affected NBA player Stephen Curry over his career. College players have the same risks. Former Michigan State University player Denzel Valentine had lots of knee issues throughout his college career. And Theo Pinson of North Carolina is just finishing recovery from a fracture in his foot!
Overall, basketball is a very risky sport. And the players who play it know that. But the leagues they play in need to help these people who are playing for our entertainment avoid injuries. It would be very easy to do too. Provide more padding, and braces. Have players checked more often for signs of injuries, and have better insurance for those that are
