Inheritance Of Ashes

Okay… well, that was horrible. Goodness, I hate feeling like this. You know, that feeling of complete disappointment? I really, really wanted to like this one. Everything I saw about it was fantastic, the reviews were wonderful, the cover is gorgeous, the synopsis intriguing – and yet, An Inheritance of Ashes fell completely flat.
I don’t know what it was about the book that finally made me realize how much I was starting to loathe the thing. I was so confused about it all. I had no idea what the setting was, for one thing. This was supposed to be a fantasy, but the only thing that felt like fantasy was the introduction of the Twisted Things. Otherwise, I thought this book was some sort of historical fiction. The mentality of the characters,

The negative components to this book were present throughout the novel. From the first paragraph I I could tell the writing style would disappoint. The sentence flow was weak and bored me. Reading for long periods of time was difficult due to this. Also, the writing style in general was unintersting.…

I loved this book it was great I read it and it just left me with goose bumps, especially the ending where Kurtz final words were “The Horror, The Horror”. I didn’t think much of the book just another great book with a crazy twist at the end and the characters, I just felt remorse for them and didn’t give it much of a second thought, but going to my In class lectures my professor complete opened up my mind, he showed me the book through a whole different perspective and it was absolutely…

The Compound, written by S.A. Bodeen, is mainly about a rich, young boy named Eli and his family that were forced into the compound, a so-called ‘sanctuary’, that their father built and the hardships they faced living there. Throughout the novel the author displays how traumatic events in life deeply shape a person mentally and physically along with their relationships. This notion is executed once they arrived safely in the enclosure after a nuclear attack on the U.S. Ever since that happened, their relations with one another had faltered and their dispositions from then on changed.…

Having had to be dumped by Katherines, Colin wanted to become the genius he always hoped become and started to try to figure out a formula that might predict the outcome of any relationship. Meanwhile, his friend, Hassan, had planned a road trip that would later completely change the way Colin looks at love and life. I think the best parts of the book are when the Colin is trying to kill the Flowers because he’s finally been found and he wants them all to die together as a family. That scene is so raw, especially when Preston describes Colin’s face and how it looked as that anyone who dared to look cowered. He had the face of pure evil because he WAS pure evil, and not a smidgen of humanity was left in him. Even through the eyes of the text, I could picture it perfectly in my head. Colin is so sick and twisted and delusional, but he doesn’t even know it!…

"The Maltese Falcon by Hammett is an hard boiled great novel. I personally enjoyed reading this classic book, probably because I like very much private detective story, and the fact that the author worked ad a detective himself maybe It gives the book a little bit of reliability, also I already watched a film inspired by the book, the one with Bogart, and I loved It very much. The plot is very complex and the great quantity of characters sometimes made the book very hard to comprehend but at the end all the pieces of the puzzle are revealed. The only thing I found a little bit annoying are the events of the second half of the book.…

Fans of the novel enjoyed the setting, and how sweet and charming the novel is. There are realistic characters who act and talk like real people do; you get to know and love these people and animals over the course of things. This is a novel that is a cozy mystery that does not raise the pulse too much. Fans liked the peaks that Albert gives into the life of Beatrix Potter. Some feel this novel is like a kid's novel for adults.…

    When I Cast Your Shadow

When I Cast Your Shadow is the kind of delightfully eerie book that is perfect for a gloomy fall afternoon that will quickly turn into evening. About a year ago, yours truly read another Sarah Porter book, Vassa in the Night, and reviewed it for Culturess, so this is not my first rodeo. And like Vassa, When I Cast Your Shadow (sent to yours truly by Tor Teen) goes to New York City and injects a dose of weirdness; in When I Cast Your Shadow, it's the idea of the dead getting the chance to walk again, albeit not in the way you think. While I recall mildly enjoying Vassa conceptually speaking, Shadow is the kind of improvement I like to see. Whether it's the willingness to explain things a little more, or keep the plot moving by introducing…

As the reader I was able to make many connections and I began to predict what would happen next. Although I enjoyed looking ahead, I was constantly annoyed that I couldn’t solve the problems in the book myself. While reading the book I found myself wanting to help the characters, which is what really kept me hooked. If I could ask Dan Brown one question about the book, I would ask him how he got the inspiration to write this book. Even though I have only read a quarter of the book, I am currently in awe at the many twists and…

I previously attempted to read this novel back in 2014, however, I was not that taken in. Although, last week I made the decision to give it a second chance and I’m absolutely thrilled I did! I certainly loved this book and the following novella. Firstly, let me state, this is more than a zombie novel; This story focuses on issues not too often seen in Young Adult fiction and tackles them head on and realistically.…
