Inherent Characteristics

Could one believe that Nelson Mandela and Osama Bin Laden have common characteristics? One protected fellowman and one attempted to destroy man. What about an 88 year old woman and a four year old child? What common characteristic might these divergent individuals share? These individuals all had separate intentions; however, they had some identical inherent characteristics. Although humans come in all shapes, sizes, nationalities, and genders, there are three characteristics inherent to all mankind: 1. All humans have the capacity to be judgmental. 2. All humans experience fears. 3. All humans have the innate need for acceptance. What is an inherent trait? An inherent trait is a trait transmitted genetically over generations. Would one believe that the capacity to be judgmental is an inherent trait? Children, adults, teenagers, and the elderly are judged on a daily basis. Commonly, adults, teenagers, and the elderly have anxiety about acceptance in life. Nearly everyone wants to feel imperative, extraordinary, and included in the social class. In today’s society, teenagers suffer the most from being accepted. Peer pressure is a key component in being accepted in the world. Peer pressure is when one’s acquaintances or peers pressure an individual to behave in a certain manner. The peer pressure may be in a positive way or negative way. Someone wants to be accepted in the popular crowd. The group invites the individual to a party and pressures him into drinking. The individual does it so he is accepted and feels important in his social class. This is an example of an individual drawn into peer pressure.
