Inhale...exhale...inhale...exhale. Ginormous feet thundered behind me. How close was this monster? How close was this despicable beast? Was it huge and scary? Oh no, but it's legs were strong and powerful and the endurance this monster had made it hard to stay ahead. Thump...thump...thump. My racing heart matched the beat of this monster's feet. I had worked and ran and pushed myself too much to give it up now because this is where it counted. I didn't want to be left out of the pack or have people think that even the best isn't good enough. Oh I could already see the bright and shiny gold trinkets that hung around others neck. I could already see the gleaming look of happiness in our leaders eyes and the slight disappointment on their face when they looked at me. That is why I refused to give up, I would make it so when they looked at me they would feel proud and pleased with what I have accomplished. …show more content…
They made this adventure seem impossible. This ferocious monster was inching closer and closer to me and my breathing was getting out of control. It was becoming louder and my lungs were become tight. Inhale-exhale-inhale-exhale-inhale-exhale. It felt like I wasn't even breathing. I knew what would come next if I didn't get it under control. The monster and I were next to each other now. It reached and tried to swallow me whole since it knew I was becoming weaker. I glanced up at the blue sky and attempted to inhale through my stuffy nose and breathe out through my mouth. I could feel my breathing become normal once again.
