Informative Vs Persuasive Essay

A persuasive speech is much different from an informative speech because with a persuasive speech you are trying to change the thought or beliefs of a person, whereas an informative speech is just meant to inform. First a topic must be selected, which should be controversial or something that you want a person to change their mind about. Next, you would define the purpose of the persuasive speech by determining whether you want to try and affect the audience’s attitude, beliefs, or values. Next, the central idea needs to be developed. In this case, you want your audience to agree with whatever statement your making. Next, you will want to determine how you will appeal to your audience. For instance, you want to state your claim in your introduction and explain why your argument is valid. In the conclusion, you will want to reinforce your claim and end the speech in a convincing manner to get your audience to change their beliefs. In the organization process, you will determine whether a problem and solution, cause and effect, refutation, or a motivated sequence is the best method for presenting your argument. You will also want to determine whether you want to use credibility, logic, or emotions to appeal to your audience. You may find that a combination of them works best or only one works best. The delivery process will be the most difficult because you must convince your audience that your argument is valid so they will change their beliefs on the topic. You must deliver with utter certainty and confidence in order to convince the audience of your argument. In order to effectively persuade an audience, you must have a solid central idea, proper organization of the message, and excellent
