Informative Speech: Research On A Simple Country Singer

Improved Essays
The informative speech was easier for me because it was researching on a simple country singer. This speech I last did was my informative speech and I felt much more prepare with this speech because I have everything done on time, I had my outline ready, notecards ready and to be able to read, my power point was good and I felt a little more confident. In class when we picked times when we were going to, Mr. Stauffer took volunteers to go first and so after that we drew out of the bucker, and I was ready but I just feel I wanted to go last but I was the 23rd person to go. The emotions I felt are nervous, scared, but ready because I knew I had to go. When I got in front of the class, I started to panic a little bit, but I knew I needed to go and I was ready. …show more content…
I did well at presenting my speech, eye contact was ok but could give it more, and knew my information. I could increase my eye contact and maybe volunteering myself to go sooner so I could get it done right away. During my speech something unexpected happened, my friend Selena had volunteered to help me play my video and was supposed to go to my power point and show a few pictures I had about my presentation. But I noticed that after my video, I wanted her to go to my power point but instead she just let me present I played the last part of my video for my conclusion and that was it. From my S.H.I.E.L.D. speech, it was very different because it took me longer to do my outline and wasn't ready because I had gotten sick before I had to give my speech. So me being sick before my speech made it worse because I didn't feel as prepared because I didn't get to practice as much as I wanted to. For next time I am going to get my stuff done on time, and practice

After watching my speech on video I recognized several things that beforehand I believed I had done well, and upon watching the speech, did do very well. Firstly was my organization, but mainly my introduction and main points. Both of these had all aspects covered and were easy to notice during the speech. Secondly I thought I did very well with my volume, rate, and vocal variety. These verbal delivery attributes came off very well in my speech and I was very happy to see that I could still execute these aspects.…

Group Co-Facilitation Papers Seeing that most of the sessions were running with a sad story, we wanted to come up with something different. Something that will empowered the group members to lift up themselves and have a positive attitude in their life. It was a long journey, each time after our morning class, we tried to figure out what we were going to talk about and finally, one of our teammate came up with “Positive Affirmation.” I told them also about Self-Esteem but they wanted to stick with this topic…

and while I was nervous I managed to find a way to start filling out applications. The first time I stepped foot into an actual classroom was for American College Testing and boy, was it a shock. This was largely due to my particular efforts in practicing the pacing of this speech multiple times over. This practice resulted in me being very confident in my timing and so I knew when I would have to make my way back to the keyboard to switch slides. I did a great job in spreading my eye contact out throughout the room which helped in getting and maintaining the audience’s attention. Overall, I am very happy with the delivery of this speech because I was able to amend my mistakes that I have made in my previous speeches even though that result in a couple of unforeseen but ‘easy-to-correct” mistakes (more on that in the next…

I have learned a lot about myself from doing my informative speech. I have learned that my eye contact with the audience and my extemporaneous delivery are strengths that I want to keep having and making better. But I also learned that I have weaknesses that I have to work on to give a better speech, which are practicing citing sources verbally more and trying to not get so nervous that it hinders my ability to do a great…

The preparing of the speech was not too bad, but it helped me overcome the fear a little bit because I knew I was prepared. I felt that after giving my speech I felt I had a structure that was easy to follow and I delivered relevant and interesting information. After watching myself, I could definitely tell there were some things that I could improve in. The biggest one was that I need to loosen up and smile more when I am giving my speech. Two other ones were I didn’t move around a lot, and my mind when blank when I was delivering my speech.…

I wanted to speak louder and clearer, but it was hard for me because I was very sick and losing my voice. That did not help me unfortunately, but I still tried as hard as I could to make myself speak louder. During this speech I was also able to control my nerves a little better than the first time. I was less nervous this time than I have ever been publicly speaking in my life. I felt a little shaky, but I didn’t have any pins and needles or numbness in my face, which I am very proud of.…

The part of my delivery that I improved on the most is the minimization of using go-to words and phrases in comparison to my informative speech. I noticed myself not using “basically” or “like” as my key phrases. It felt a bit more soothing without the repetition of words that I used to adopt. Also, I noticed that my eye contact had gotten better from the informative speech. I did not often make it seem clear that I looked at the computer as much as last time.…

Kattie, you did a very fine job on informing the class about gun control and the issues of having guns on campus. For the most part, your speech was easy to follow, but I should caution you and tell you to not be afraid to use transitional phrases as you speak. I felt like there were transitional phrases here and there, but not as much as it should have been. In addition, even though, there was a situation where you was not able to use your visual aids, you still did very good on getting your main idea across. Overall, you did a really good job on discussing and giving facts about gun control, even though majority of the class is not able to bring guns on campus yet, but it's good that you brought this to our attention to think about.…

However, I personally felt nervous as I was talking. This was reinforced by feedback I received which said “you seemed slightly nervous at first but then as confidence grew the teaching became increasingly better.” I felt this was due to a lack of preparation and could have easily been resolved by practice and repetition. Also, next time I will prepare some notes to prompt me and to ensure I do not forget to mention any important details the students may…
