This memo will inform you of the evaluation I gave myself concerning the informative presentation speech. It will be based off of the criteria worksheet, and I will go over strengths, weaknesses, strategies for improvement, and an overall reflection of my speech.

Strengths of The Speech:

My appearance was neat and professional, and went with the assignment. The PowerPoint visual was clear, simple, uncluttered, informative, and used smoothly. The language used was professional and appropriate with no slang usage, like “you guys”. The transitions worked well for my speech. It was simple and flowed well into the next major point. All requirements for the presentation were met.

The introduction had a professional greeting. I clearly introduced

I lost my place, and had to look at the PowerPoint and outline to continue the speech. I giggled twice in order to relieve stress, because I was so nerves. There were some filler words used like “um” and “ok”. I stood in one spot during the entire speech, because my legs were shaking. I mostly maintained eye contact with the people in front of me because I was more comfortable with looking up then around.

My voice was shaky in some areas, my vocal projection got low at certain points, and I stuttered a few times. The pauses should have been more effectively used throughout the speech. The PowerPoint was simple and professional, but there could have been more visuals to draw in the

One improvement would be controlling my nerves. I will practice my speech out loud in front of others more than once, I will take deep breaths before and during the speech, and I will pick out friendly faces throughout the classroom so I can look the room more often. I will wear flat shoes so that I can walk around the room a bit more. Also, I will time out when I will move around throughout the presentation. I will stay calm to control my shaky vocals. I will work on my vocal projection so that I am able to increase my voice at key points, but insure that my voice will be able to be heard in the back without yelling the entire time. I will watch professional speeches like Michelle Obama to try and mimic her confidence and her strong speech given skills.

The improvements of my PowerPoints will consist of more visuals to capture my audience attention. I will create an outline that is more simple so that I am not trying to remember a written speech. I believe that because I was trying to focus on remembering my written speech mixed with nerves that is the reason I lost my spot during the speech.

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

    1. I believe there were some positive aspects of my speech. Firstly, I was not a nervous when speaking in front of the audience. This allowed me to have the speech flow smoother than last time. More or less, I got the reaction I wanted from the audience. I felt like it was not so boring that I lost anyone, and I definitely got a couple laughs at some of the jokes I tried. If I were to rewrite or perform my speech again, I’d probably do a few things differently. The main thing I’d do differently, would be to look up from the paper more. Before giving my speech, I did not think this would be a challenge, but once I was actually up there with all my nerves, I found it pretty difficult, to sustain speaking without looking at my script.…

To be honest I was never a good public speaker there are times I avoid public speaking there are certain fears I had such as tongue tied, forgetting my lines, the awkward silence when I try to make a joke or point and by being myself blurting out words like "stuff" or "shit" unconsciously. I know it's so unprofessional but it happened quite a few times. After speaking in public I kinda dwell on what I said something that bothered me or that was unsaid.…

This speech I last did was my informative speech and I felt much more prepare with this speech because I have everything done on time, I had my outline ready, notecards ready and to be able to read, my power point was good and I felt a little more confident. In class when we picked times when we were going to, Mr. Stauffer took volunteers to go first and so after that we drew out of the bucker, and I was ready but I just feel I wanted to go last but I was the 23rd person to go. The emotions I felt are nervous, scared, but ready because I knew I had to go.…

The speaker did well on speaking clearly, made a good eye contact, and most importantly was he had a good transition throughout his speech. Practice makes perfect as everyone has heard this saying before. In the future, I plan on practicing my speeches more by speaking in front of a mirror over and over again to give myself the impression of what I look like when speaking in front of a group of people. Practicing in front of a mirror over and over again will also help me memorize my speech more instead of relying on my note card as often, giving me more confidence while speaking. I tend to use my note card as a comforting thing when I get nervous and forget what I am about to say. It gives me the chance to collect my thoughts and remember what I was going to say as well as staying on track of where I was going in my speech.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

The first thing I noticed in my video is that I say “umm” way too often. The first time I said, “umm” in my speech was at 0:10 and continued to say it throughout my whole entire speech. I found it quite annoying when listening to myself. It is my go to word when I am nervous and it is something I really need to work on. The second thing I noticed is that I don’t look professional when giving my speech because instead of standing up straight and tall, I lean to the side and kind of stick my hip out.…

Kattie, you did a very fine job on informing the class about gun control and the issues of having guns on campus. For the most part, your speech was easy to follow, but I should caution you and tell you to not be afraid to use transitional phrases as you speak. I felt like there were transitional phrases here and there, but not as much as it should have been. In addition, even though, there was a situation where you was not able to use your visual aids, you still did very good on getting your main idea across. Overall, you did a really good job on discussing and giving facts about gun control, even though majority of the class is not able to bring guns on campus yet, but it's good that you brought this to our attention to think about.…

I strongly dislike public speaking, but I am working to improve my skills in that area because I know how much it’s needed in the workplace. There were many of my classmates who are graduating at the same time as me and it seems like we all have a lot to improve. We need more practice and more willing to put what we have learned in the past into practice. I know that during our college careers, we have heard from different people about what we should do when we are giving a presentation, but it looks like we did not take it seriously and now we are facing the consequences of giving a presentation like a high school student and not as an almost professional…
