Powerlifting became an important part of my life during my first semester of college. I was overweight, out of shape, and not happy with the way I looked or felt. I decided to put all my effort into improving myself and everyday being better than the person I was yesterday. I began powerlifting and over the semester I had completely changed my lifestyle, cleaning up my diet and becoming more active. One personal story about how chalk has helped me in my powerlifting was when I was trying to beat my personal deadlift record. No matter how hard I squeezed the bar and held on, I always dropped the bar three-quarters of the up. I was about to quit then I remembered that I might have a bit of leftover chalk in my bag. So I grabbed the chalk, chalked up my hands and tried again. Just like that I was able to set a new personal deadlift record at 405 pounds. Since I have starting powerlifting, I have integrated the values into my life such as putting all my effort and working hard towards my goals and also just like how I have to come up with innovative ways to train, I come up with innovative ways to succeed in
