First, we are going to talk about what is considered parental child abduction. A. According to FBI.gov, parental child abduction is when a child 17 years or younger is taken or kept by a parent who does not have legal custody. B. If a child is 15 years old or older, for them to be considered abducted by a parent there has to be a possibility for him/her to be in danger. 1. Definition of parental child abduction includes the following terms: taking, keeping, concealment, flight, intent to deprive indefinitely, child (under 18), family member. 2. Parental child abduction laws vary state by state.

II. The next thing I am going to cover is the statistics and characteristics of children who are most abducted.
A. The percentage of children who were abducted by their biological fathers are 53% vs 25% for biological mother.
B. 46% of the children were home within a week, 21% weren’t returned until one month or more of being away. 1. 44% of the children were younger than 6 years of age. 2. In the past two years, there have been over 460 thousand entries to NCIS (National Crime Information Center).
