Purpose: To inform the audience about Leonardo Da Vinci’s past, impact on art during the Renaissance period, and his current achievements.
Thesis statement: Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the greatest artists who had a tremendous impact on art during the Renaissance period and is still very well known today because of his achievements and talents.

I. Art has existed for a very long time, and is universal, as it exists throughout the world. As it continues to grow & develop, artists have grown with it as well.

Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the greatest artists to ever exist in this world. He was very notable during Renaissance period because of how well he painted.
a. The Renaissance was a period of intellectual enlightenment in Europe where people focused on the growth of art, science literature and so on and so forth.
b. People considered to be the epitome of a “Renaissance man,” –someone who excelled intellectually in different fields of study, however, he excelled greatly in art.
III. I have been fascinated with the life of Leonardo Da Vinci ever since I learned about him during my World History class in the 11th grade, which I ended up typing a 10-page paper about him.
IV. Today, I will be speaking to you about the life of Leonardo Da Vinci, including his childhood, impact on art during the Renaissance period, and his current achievements.

II. Leonardo Da Vinci’s impact on art during the Renaissance period had a lot to do with his technique, concept, and subject material.
a. Show video clip
b. As seen on the short video clip, he introduced the Somato. During the Renaissance period, he popularized the concept of the “vanishing point” which enabled his paintings to look 3 dimensional.
c. Many patrons wanted painting made by him.
