COMM 001: Informative Speech Outline (Speech 2)

Topic: Smartphones
Speaking and specific purpose: To inform the audience how mobile phones have been improved and what are those improvement used for.
Primary audience outcome: The audience will be able to identify the history of mobile phones and the new features of the latest smartphones.
Thesis statement: As mobile phones have been improved with a lot of new features. It is valuable to know about them.

INTRODUCTION
Attention Getter: How many of us actually know about the changes of mobile phones. Have you ever used a phone in 1980s? I believe some of you were too young to know about the changes.
Psychological Orientation: As I am living in the technology world with a lot of different incredible smartphones, so I’m really curious about when the first mobile phone was invented, what are the new features in the latest phones and how these features are used for, so I have do some research to educate myself.

So I’m going to talk about the history of mobile phones and how they have been improved.

BODY
I. ( Images) In the past, Martin Cooper, who is a senior engineer at Motorola, invented the first mobile phones in 1983 and there were not a lot of functions and features in the phones. (Anjawalla, 2005)
A. Phones were used for only talking to each other, not for texting or surfing the web.( Anjawalla, 2005)
1. There was only the number on the phones without screens.
B. Phones were used for only taxi drivers and emergency services, they were not for personal uses. ( Anjawalla, 2005)
1. Phones were too large and heavy.
2. It was only 30 minutes of talking and it took around 11 hours to
