On May 14, 1984, he was invited to the White House to receive an award from President Ronald Reagan for his support of charities that helped people overcome alcohol and drug abuse and for his support of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’ Drunk Driving Prevention Campaign. Jackson donated the use of “Beat It” for the campaigns public service announcements.
