Informative Speech On Adoption

Improved Essays
For my informative speech I talked about adoption and parts of the process that you have to go through. To prepare for this speech I got my props first or my idea of what props I was going to use. After I had picked my props I picked my points based upon my props so that way I could easily incorporate my props into my speech. I then got all my information on my notecards and practiced a lot with my notecards to try to memorize more of it, so its not just me looking at my notecards the whole speech. When I was up in front of the class I felt more comfortable and relaxed. I wasn’t as tense or shaky as I was for my last speech. After I was done with my speech I felt much better that I had gotten it done and out of the way, but I also felt like …show more content…
Another thing unexpected was that I had forgotten to bring one of my props along with me and it was written in my speech so I had to jump over that part and try to figure out where to start up. This speech experience was different from my first speech by the fact that I was more comfortable giving this speech then my last one. This topic was specifically one I chose so I had the choice to choose something I was comfortable with. While I was comfortable talking about this topic I also pushed myself a little and added some of my adoption history in there for the class to get to hear real examples and it was also a way for me to connect with my class mates some more. In my next speech I am going to make sure I have more information, even more so that when I practice and time it myself and go over its okay, because once I get in front of the class I speak faster so I will know I have plenty of information to fill my time slot. A situation where I would need to share detailed information about a topic could be at college, during one of my classes I could be asked to present about a certain topic. Another example would be at my job some day, depending on what it is that I am going to do they could ask me to present something to my colleagues that goes along with

The informative speech I gave on Wednesday about “GM Foods” did not go better than I expected that I could have done because I felt time pressure to organize a verbal outline as closer to written outline. On the topic “GM Foods”, my rhetoric was mainly to inform audiences about negative impact of GM foods on human health. The most difficult part of this informative speech for me is the topic selection. Going through the struggle of finding the topic of large public/audiences interest which can lead to audience inclusion and positive public discourse, I finally found the topic of public concerns/interest but doing research on the topic found all controversial proposition and opposition to the arguments of positive and negative impacts of GM…

Adoption implies an opportunity to be desired, adored, and appreciated despite the flaws you have, removing the misery of living alone and placing the blissful feelings of being surrounded by a family. Annually, thousands of children enter the foster care system and wait with anticipation for their chance of having a family again. According to UNICEF, the number of orphans globally in 2008 was approximated to be 132 million orphans. Hence for decreasing this enormous number, adoption should be encouraged and supported so orphans could find a better future and accumulate a better life. In other words, we should support different types of adoption like transracial, special needs children, and international adoption.…

For my speech over foster care, I expected people to know what foster care was, but not to know very much about it. I had twelve people fill out the audience analysis surveys, so the results are not completely accurate about the entire audience. I had two open ended questions, because I wanted to know the audience thoughts and definition on foster care. I asked the audience to describe what foster care was in their own words. Almost all the answers were mostly correct.…

I gave my heritage speech on my dad who is my biggest role model on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018. The purpose of this speech was to talk about someone important to me and share their personality, adventures, and lessons learned from them. Before the speech I felt very nervous and shaky. I felt like I didn’t know what I was going to say even though I had practiced it over and over. I believe I followed my outline in terms of structure and planning.…

It was the Thursday before my speech that I was finally was able to get all the materials for my SHIELD, where I began work on my SHIELD. I hadn’t exactly thought everything out before I began work that night, so there were a few rough patches. First of all, all I knew is that I wanted to have a soccer ball shield. I also went on a trip with my family on Saturday and Sunday, so I couldn’t really start my SHIELD until Sunday night. This was extremely unfortunate because my SHIELD required more work than I planned on.…

In reflection to my second speech in public speaking, I believe it turned out better this time than the last. When I got up in front of the class, I was a little shaken up. I really believe this was because I was too organized. As I stood at the podium, I felt overwhelmed. I realized I over prepared and I did not know where to start.…

We had to pretend we were in that moment of time where the occasion is occurring and give a speech based off of that occasion. I did my special occasion speech on my friends Rachel and Thai’s wedding. I noticed during this speech after watching it, I did have some of the similar and same habits as I did in my persuasive speech. I used my hands a lot, I swayed my body throughout the speech, was very fidgety and used “um” and “like” a lot as word fillers. I noticed I did not have as good eye contact in this speech as I did in the persuasive speech because I had to do a lot of thinking to remember where what was going to say in the next part of the story I was giving.…

In this society that we live in today, as equal as everyone claim it to be, I believe it is not. Due to the simple fact that gays are still fighting for rights that they should have had decades ago. The topic today is gay adoption, and I am for it one hundred percent. There is no reason why gay couples should not be able to adopt a child, while there are thousands of children who don’t have families, and more enough ways of adopting, same-sex couples are just as loving and capable of caring for a child, just like heterosexual couples. There are numerous ways to go about adopting when you 're in a homosexual relationship.…

Up during my speech specificly the last one, i felt super nervous, but looking back i appeared confident and great body gestures. The one thing that doesn 't surprise me is that in all my speeches i managed to have a great tone of voice and enthusiasm. Personally my strongest performance had to be the persuasive speech, after looking at it i noticed i looked the most confident, my content, my structure, and my transitions were spot on. My weekest performance however was my first speech, i looked so nervous, i had very little content, i was not into the speech, no transitions, and like i said i learned a lot from this…

Topic: Adopting and Rescuing Animals Specific Purpose: To persuade my effective speaking class the benefits of adopting a pet over buying one from a breeder or pet store. Central Idea: Adopting animals and rescuing is much more beneficial than buying an animal from a pet store because you won’t be unknowingly or knowingly supporting a puppy mill, you will be saving an animal’s life, and you will feel better overall in the end about rescuing your new pet rather than buying. INTRODUCTION Attention-Getter: According to Humane Society of the United States organization’s website I accessed on December 6, 2016, “Each year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…

However, I personally felt nervous as I was talking. This was reinforced by feedback I received which said “you seemed slightly nervous at first but then as confidence grew the teaching became increasingly better.” I felt this was due to a lack of preparation and could have easily been resolved by practice and repetition. Also, next time I will prepare some notes to prompt me and to ensure I do not forget to mention any important details the students may…

I sometimes get nervous about what people are thinking about my speech when I am giving it but if I don’t judge people from the audience then I will have the mindset when I am on stage that people from the audience are not judging me. Lastly, I think that I will be able to get up in front of people and give a speech without getting extremely nervous. I haven’t had much experience with speaking in front of big groups but hopefully by the end of this semester I will be very good at it without having any nervous feelings if someone asked me to give a public…
