I have previously done some research on hydraulic fracturing, just learning what exactly it is and why it is used.

Thesis:
Hydraulic Fracturing is a very dirty way to obtain energy, causing disease and environment loss.

Preview:

Health is always a major factor to anyone, because no one wants family or themselves to deal with diseases of any kind.
It has already been mentioned that hydraulic fracturing can contribute to diseases like cancer, According to Barbara Gottlieb
Along with cancer, Duke University released that the evaporated gases from fracking wells can cause pneumonia and bronchitis.
According to Air Quality & Climate Change, the emissions from fracking wells can also cause acute and chronic diseases. Along with less serious, yet irritating conditions of sore throat, eye irritation, and headaches.
These symptoms should easily persuade people to find a better way to retrieve gas or oil from the ground.
If Hydraulic Fracturing is not dealt with, the environment will decline, along with our health.
Over time and the overuse of fracking wells, the environment will drastically change. Acid rain will happen more often, along with the harming rise of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere, according to Joe Hoffman.
Human population would be more susceptible to diseases like pneumonia and bronchitis, along with a heavily increased risk of cancer. The amount of toxins in the area would likely eventually lead to evacuations of the surrounding

After watching the documentary, Gasland, I was curious and wanted to know if any of the harms of hydraulic fracturing are coming to my resident state of North Carolina. Allowing hydraulic fracturing to be practiced in North Carolina would threaten our waters. Harmful wastewaters can spill and pollute our lakes and rivers. These toxic chemicals can leak into our drinking water and the methane gas being released during the drilling process can end up in tap water, putting on the rick of…

Hydraulic fracturing is the process used to fracture shale rock deposits, allowing the extraction oil and natural gas from deep below the earth’s surface. The drilling and fracturing process produces large amounts of contaminated wastewater that is pressurized and forced back into the ground deep below the earth’s surface. Over the last several years there have been many debates over the dangers of “Fracking” and the economic impact. There are a lot of concerns from environmental groups and concerned citizens, not only with the drilling and fracturing process, but with the excessive amounts of fresh water wasted in the process and the disposal of wastewater after the drilling is complete. Hydraulic fracturing poses many dangers to the earth…

Hydraulic Fracturing: Safe or Not In today’s society, one of the most controversial issue is Hydraulic fracturing. The process of hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as “fracking”, is used in nine out of ten natural gas wells in the United States, where millions of gallons of water, sand, and chemicals are pumped underground to break apart the rock and release the gas.…

The controversies surrounding fracking involve the environmental impacts of the drilling itself and the extraction fluid. The fluid consists of various acids, detergents, and poisons that are unregulated by the federal government (NYTimes). This fluid must travel back up the well to the surface. This makes contaminating the area surround it in the event of a broken pipe or seal.…

Fracking is starting to become a problem in our country. Fracking is water mixed with chemicals pumped into big rocks at high pressure to get oil out of the ground. Fracking isn't all good fracking can cause earthquakes in the earth because of the holes it makes.it all started in the 1990s whn they figued out they could get oil out of fractured rocks with a easy metad of getting it. Fracking can produce oil for a cheaper price and create jobs but the damages it does to the earth is worse than having cheaper oil. Fracking causes the earth to have earthquakes which the earth is not used to man made earthquakes.…

Emissions of carbon dioxide and methane will contribute to global warming. Methane warms up the climate 80 times more than the amount of a 20 year period of carbon dioxide emission. In addition to pollution, health is a problem too. The workers who work for fracking companies, will likely have respiratory problems, cardiovascular problems, effects on fetal / child development and effects on the reproductive system after/before they retire. They are also likely to be a danger to their family, because of the contaminated shirts, pants, hats and boots that they bring home everyday after…

There have also been studies that suggest that chemicals used during fracking, such as methanol, formaldehyde, sodium hydroxide etc., are carcinogens 2. When fracking occurs in a specific site, the chance for contamination is low but as the number of sites increase, the chance for contamination increases 4. It is suggested that advanced testing should be used to trace chemicals used in water during fracking to groundwater and determine if there is a correlation 4. It is projected that many shale productions around the country will have an increase in water usage and it is very important to determine if this will be harmful to public health…

Fracking is a cheaper and more harmful way for us to get oil out of the ground. It has caused just as much bad as good, if not more. The chemicals in the Fracking Fluid can leak into our water, poison our loved ones, and pollute our environment. Fracking should be illegal due to its detrimental effects on the environment and people. Here’s a “fun,” fact; each fracking job uses between one to eight million gallons of water and over forty thousand gallons of chemicals (Source 2).…

Fracking is a big controversial topic that has been argued for years because of the effects it can have on the environment. Fracking has been used since the 1940s to get natural gas from rocks such as limestone and sandstone. At first, the workers started to use small explosions to get the natural gas from the dead organisms in the stone. The oil and gas companies later changed by using water pressure which is known as hydraulic fracking. This sounds good but fracking can have consequences on the local environment.…

I would like to bring this news to your attention because I am concerned that hydraulic fracturing (fracking) could potentially cause major earthquakes to occur in and around the fracking hubs all across Canada. I urge you to place a ban on fracking in Canada because of its negative effects on the environment. The environmental effects of fracking include an increased risk of earthquakes, air pollution, and water pollution in the areas where fracking facilities are present.3 In June of this year, Alberta was struck by a magnitude 4.4 earthquake in Fox Creek, north of Edmonton. This area is known for extensive fracking.…

In many people’s minds, the term “Fracking” only applies to the controversial extraction process and the environmental impact surrounding that process. Hydraulic Fracturing or “Fracking” for short is a process where chemicals and water are injected into wells to breakup rock formations that have gas or oil trapped in the rock itself. This process is specifically used for developing and extracting oil and natural gas from shale. While most people have heard the term “Fracking”, very few understand or even consider the down the road steps required to transfer, process and transport the fuel once it has been extracted or the implications and environmental or health impacts that follows in its wake. While fracking is currently banned in New York State and much of the New England area, those states still play a part in getting the fuel to export markets such as Canada or overseas.…
