Informative Speech Class

Improved Essays
The informative speech was one that I actually enjoyed. I was able to inform the class about something I was passionate about, and I learned some stuff that I didn't previously know about. To prepare I made an outline and a few handy notecards. I didn't practice it at all. I wanted to see how a speech would go with no practice. The time was perfect-right at five minutes. I was relieved to have the time be correct because when I read my outline in class I could have easily gone over six minutes. I felt relaxed in front of the audience because we had already given a speech before. I was a little nervous since I didn't know one hundred percent what I was going to say. Upon completion of the speech, I was just glad to be done. It's nice to know that I don't …show more content…
It's not a huge deal. The main point of the video wasn't to analyze, but to get hyped since it was my attention-getter. As long as the loud music played and something was on the screen to hold their attention for thirty seconds, I was golden. The difference between this speech and the last was that this one took more preparing. This was due to having to research. With the SHIELD speech, it was easy to go up there with one or two words on a notecard and go off of it. It's your life, so it's super easy to talk at least four minutes about. You really need to know what you're going to talk about with the informative because it would be easy to get off track. Also, knowing where to throw in your sources is important. If you say them all right away, it could seem like you are trying to take the easy way out, or you aren't able to fit it in well with your speech. Fitting them in with your speech is vital to having a smooth speech with everyone catching your vibes. Next time I'll probably read through it once or twice to be sure I meet the time limit since I was a little bit nervous during the speech of not making the time

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

The last example he used was statistics, throughout the presentation he used many statistics to back up his ideas, such as the change of cancer in the last 100 years. (C5) The transitions and organization of the speech were not very clear or easy to understand. Transitions were not used effectively at all, instead of going rom point to point he skipped information entirely and just began his next point. He did try to use some organization though, covering points in a topical pattern.…

    1. I believe there were some positive aspects of my speech. Firstly, I was not a nervous when speaking in front of the audience. This allowed me to have the speech flow smoother than last time. My goal was to get up to the podium, give my speech, and use the inflections and tones I intended for the speech. I would say I was pretty successful in doing so. In a few spots I lacked the tone I wanted, but for the most part, and the important parts, like the sarcastic bits, I did use inflection that was necessary. My pacing was a little off at points, but I expected that to happen sooner or later since I was nervous. I also wanted to incorporate rhetoric, without making it an extremely emotional, more a fact based speech, which I feel accomplished.…

My group members for the Civic Proposal Presentation were Alexandra Alaniz and Gabriela A. Martinez. I chose to work with them because I had worked with both girls in previous group class assignments. I think we worked very well together since we all expressed our opinions and were open for any change if someone had a different view towards any slide of the presentation. One issue we experienced was time, we all had different schedules that intervened with the times we could meet. In this Civic Proposal Presentation, I learned about group work experience, my own performance, and the feedback from my audience.…

The speaker did well on speaking clearly, made a good eye contact, and most importantly was he had a good transition throughout his speech. After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

My speech went in the order it was supposed to. I started with my purpose statement, and continued on with my attention step, introduction to my topic, relation to the audience, ethos statement, and my thesis. This period was from the very beginning of my speech until about 1:00 in. I then followed with a transition into my first topic, followed by another transition, my second topic, and so on and while ending with my conclusion.
