He was the one who laid claim for France and North America. In 1594 France was the first for France they missioned Cartier to explore land of america to search for gold, spices, and the route to northeast Asia. Jacques Cartier first expedition sailed with two ships to the St. Lawrence river sea way. He coasted around Newfoundland. Cartier encountered a native american village. He had kidnapped two young Indians of the chef and brought them back to France.
