Informative Essay: Valley Forge

Depression is the best way to describe Valley Forge. Unhopeful is the best way to describe the soldiers there. Valley Forge is depressing, and the soldiers there are gloomy. I have fought my time in the war, and there is still no improvement on either side.The Members of Congress have created and signed the Declaration of Independence. If we lose the war they have basically signed their death. Britain will hunt them and all the remaining, living soldiers and kill them. I need to chose whether to re-enlist or not; because if I re-enlist I have a greater chance of dieing, but if I don’t re-enlist then I may live. Some of my fellow soldiers and I have decided to not re-enlist for three reasons which are because of the poor life sile, not much …show more content…
As I sat around a fire with some of my fellow soldiers while they talked about General Washington. One said, “To make matters worse, Washington’s own position was uncertain. Some members of the Congress don’t trust him.” (Roden, pg 141) Later that day we heard from a spy that some of the young woman had “scarlet fever” (Roden, pg 141). “Why,” I asked, “do they adore the Redcoats, that are taxing and issuing Acts on us, while we are here, freezing to death fight for our rights and freedom back?” That night I remember writing in my journal, ‘Why am I here? Britain has an hug army in Pennsylvania, that is nice and warm quartered in houses, while us Americans are stuck in Valley Forge. We are small in numbers compared to Britain. “She has declared the right, not only to tax us, but also to bind us in al cases whatsoever.” A doctor told me that because we don’t have much support there have been about 6887 illnesses in 1777 and 1800 were died. I have chosen to leave Valley Forge because we have few support from others around us. If Washing to was a better leader then all of the Members of Congress would trust him, we would get more supplies, and just might be able to stay
