I can understand why The Burns and Allen Show was so successful at that time after watching it. To my surprise, it was much less insipid than I imagined. The plots were simple but impressive and the blocking was fine. George Burns and Gracie Allen were a happy couple, and this domestic comedy was set in their home. Harry and Blanche Morton were the Burns' neighbours, Bill Goodwin was a friend of the two families. Although their established characters were simple and familiar, they were not dull. The principal sets were living rooms of Burns and Morton, including two doors and a small garden. The show’s narrative was delivered in stories. The story is simple. The teenage girl Emily stayed in Burns’ house to spend the weekend while her parents were out of town, and Gracie tried her best to entertain her.
