Informative Essay: The American Flag

The American flag is a very special symbol to me. Soldiers have put their life on the line to earn the right to have our flag. The flag is so special to us that every morning we say a pledge to it. Recently people have not been very respectful to the flag. They have been setting it on fire and walking on it which is very disrespectful.
The American flag has fifty stars and thirteen red and white stripes. The thirteen stripes stand for the thirteen colonies that we originally settled in. the fifty stars stand for the fifty states. I have always wondered until now why did they choose to use the colors red, white, and blue and now I can answer that question.
