Welding can be very fun and empowering. Watching the sparks fly from the metals, and seeing the world’s strongest metals be made into what a welder wants for it to become. Welding requires hard work and a considerable amount of practice. It requires hard work, dedication, and concentration. If one welder does not pay attention to their work it could result in a considerable amount of damage to yourself and even others. Welding is the binding together of metals using mechanical machines (Weld). Welding works from a mechanical machine that are extremely hot to melt the metals together. There are over thirty different types of welding, but the most common are Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Gas Metal Arc Welding …show more content…
Things taught in a welding class include arc welding, soldering (low-melting alloy used to binding less fusible metals), brazing ( soldering at high temperatures), casting (pouring molten metal), and bronzing (Welding). There are certain skills that a person needs to possess to become a good welder. To become a good welder a person needs to be detail oriented, have the ability to solve problems, have exceptional hand-to-eye coordination, and strength and stamina (Adkins). Also to become a welder a person needs to have knowledge of using welding torches or lasers, reading blue prints, and understanding shop mechanics (Adkins). It is absolutely necessary that a welder is complete focused on their job at task. Welding is a serious job, one wrong thing can lead to a disaster. A welding apprentice is someone who is in training to become a welder. Typically an apprentice will go through two education styles: a class room education and a hands on education. During the class room education apprentices will learn the basics and science on welding. During the hands on education they will perform projects actively learning how the machines work and most importantly the safety techniques (What). A welding technician is also known as a welder. Those are the ones who operate the machinery to join two or more metals together to form a new product. A welder makes a salary range from $25,000 to $75,000 a year (Welders). On average a welder will make $38,150 as of 2015 (Welding). A welding supervisor is the boss, they oversee the work complete and in progress by the welders. They make sure that the welders are doing what needs to be finished while abiding by the welding safety
