A job paying more than minimum wage is challenging, but getting one right out of high school is rare. What if I told you that if you graduate from Weatherford High School with a $10 or more an hour job with only a semester of course work and clinical training required for the certification. You would be delusion not to think this is a good trade off. Most students at Weatherford High School are not fully aware of the health science and technology’s (HST) program that has collaborated with Weatherford College to provide students with continuing education programs such as pharmacy tech assistant, emergency medical technician basic (EMT-B), and certified nurse’s aide. These certifications are recognized by the medical industry and can be used for immediate employment post graduation, or even during your senior year while working towards them. To be admitted into one of these beneficial programs, you must be a student at Weatherford High School and have participated in the health science program from your sophomore to senior year. The two years prior to your senior year are required so that you have basic skills and knowledge of the health care field and can be prepared for the on the job training your senior year. Principles of Health Science, the first class your sophomore year, will contain in class instructions learning things such as medical terminology, certain diseases and pathologies, and insight to the healthcare field through multiple speakers.
