The sport softball has been around for years, and it has gained some popularity. The goal of the game is to win obviously, but it’s more then that also. The game is played with nine players on the field and usually around one to two girls sitting on the bench. The girls on the bench are pinch runners or if someone gets hurt they will go in for them, this is most of the time. The players in the field all play and stand at a different position. Starting with out field, the three positions are right, center, and left field. Even though they are in outfield they all do almost the same thing. However they all have to move during each pitch and catch the ball and throw it back into the field. Infield has catcher, pitcher, first, second, third, shortstop. It became a sport when some alumni were sitting in the Chicago, Illinois Farragut Boat Club. While they were waiting for the football game to get over when one of them threw a glove over to the other one. He picked up a stick and hit the glove as it was coming towards him. Now that we know a little history behind the sport, we can start talk about how to it the ball. It can look simple when the pros do it, but its not as easy as it looks. There are different techniques and things you need to know before you get in the box or even in the box. Still you need to know some things before we get into it. Batting deals with speed and thinking and being balanced. If you are unbalanced then you wont be able to hit the ball correctly. There are seven fundamentals that need to talked about. The first fundamental is the correct grip on the bat, different coaches will tell you different ways. For a good grip you grab the bat and both of your thumbs should be facing up like you were giving somebody two thumbs up. The second would be the hand positioning, you need to your hands
