The sport softball has been around for years, and it has gained some popularity. The goal of the game is to win obviously, but it’s more then that also. The game is played with nine players on the field and usually around one to two girls sitting on the bench. The girls on the bench are pinch runners or if someone gets hurt they will go in for them, this is most of the time. The players in the field all play and stand at a different position. Starting with out field, the three positions are right, center, and left field. Even though they are in outfield they all do almost the same thing. However they all have to move during each pitch and catch the ball and throw it back into the field. Infield has catcher, pitcher, first, second, third, shortstop. It became a sport when some alumni were sitting in the Chicago, Illinois Farragut Boat Club.
