My topic is on Psoriasis. I can remember the first time I seen it I was very young. Big blistery and red patches of scaly skin. I decided to pick this topic because I am interested in working in the dermatology field as a Nurse Practitioner. That means I will be dealing with and seeing all different types of skin problems and issues. My Aunt struggles with this disorder on a daily basis. I was interested in finding out the major impact it has on her life.
Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disorder dealing with your skin. This means its persisting for a long time or constantly recurring. The disease it not contagious. Anybody at any age can be diagnosed with it. Nearly two to three percent of the world’s population is diagnosed. It wide rangers from men, women, children and even newborn babies who can encounter the symptoms. can be passed on by one generation to the next meaning its hereditary.

It is just determined by how sever it looks and feels. You can either have Plaque Psoriasis, Guttate Psoriasis, Inverse Psoriasis, and Pustular psoriasis. Plaque psoriasis is the most common form. Approximately 1.5 million Americans suffer from moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. The guttate form of psoriasis is relatively uncommon. However, those who do have it you can find are either children or adults younger than 30 years. Looks like tiny small rain drops that’s colored like salmon. Inverse psoriasis causes smooth patches of red, inflamed skin. It's more common in overweight people and is worsened by friction and sweating. Pustular Psoriasis is a rare. Like I mentioned before it might be a reaction to an infection, stress, medications, or contact with certain chemicals. The skin has bumps filled with yellow pus. When they dry it turns yellow/brown colored that looks flaky as if a snake shedding its own
