According to Barkpost, 1.4 million dogs are put to sleep every year by animal shelters. 40% of that 1.4 million, which is approximately half a million, are pit bulls. Pitbulls are given a bad reputation by the media because they only cover the “important” part of the news. A majority of them are just puppies at heart that care for their owner. Although pit bulls are seen as “dangerous” dogs, many factors come into play when it comes to pit bulls or just dogs in general. It depends on how the owner treats the dog, the environment it lives in, and most importantly how the dog was trained.
First of all, owners who treat their pet awful are awful. Thanks to these bad owners some states are considering passing laws that limit or straight up ban certain types of dog breeds. It is hard to train old dogs due to the dog’s previous owner so they prefer to get puppies. If you get a rescued pitbull they may be a bit aggressive. Of course, that goes saying for all pets but due to pit bulls being bigger dogs it can be more dangerous.
