This post is very informative. Above all It is saddening that occupational therapy services are not offered at this facility. Our profession foundation is built on mental health. I can already think of all the activities the clients may participate in during OT group sessions. I would love to work in a facility such as the one you mention because I want to gain a better understanding of how people with mental health are affected. I know working with people affected by mental health can scare people away from this population but I think hands on experience would allow me to explore this area further to gain a better understanding.
