Picture this, a woman mid 50’s, stage three terminal cancer. The doctors’ have concluded that the cancer is incurable. To make matters worse, she is going through common symptoms of the chemotherapy like pain, depression, nausea, and loss of appetite. The drug has been reborn in the past few decades, and is producing results like shown in ancient china and native american culture. To begin, the majority of research related to the effects of marijuana goes to severe nausea and has involved oral administration of marijuana to individuals with chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.(Source A) The nausea occurs when certain substances in food act on the mucus layering wall, which deteriorates the wall causing the acid to touch the stomach. The marinol in marijuana acts as a temporary coating for the mucus layer which relieves the nausea. I have had personal experience with severe nausea. When I was a child I had a very sensitive gag reflex, meaning I threw up constantly. I went to the doctor multiple times and there was nothing that could subdue it for the longest time. The drug was around at the time of my predicament, but it could not be distributed to the public.
