There are many types of dreams, normal dreams, lucid dreams, nightmares, and a concept called false awakenings. Normal dreams can be described as images in the brain. The images may be a story or just random thoughts. People dream almost every night, but sometimes they just don’t remember it. Lucid dreams are known to be one of the most bizarre cases of dreams. A lucid dream is when a person knows they are dreaming and are able to control what they say and do (Facts). If a person wanted to fly, they could fly. If they wanted to experience something, maybe a job interview, they could put themselves in that situation in their own dream. Research proves that lucid dreaming is increased activity in parts of the brain that are usually shut off during sleep. Lucid dreaming is a state between REM sleep and being awake (Facts). People can download an app on their phones to help them lucid dream. Each night a sound will randomly go off from their phone. This is meant to wake parts of the brain to allow the person to enter the stage of sleep where lucid dreams occur. Also in this app is a dream journal where people can keep track of their dreams. People may think lucid dreaming is awesome and wonder why everybody doesn’t do it, but there has been cases where lucid dreams have lead to spiritual encounters.
