Growing up, her family were huge Dodgers fans and went to a majority of the games. While attending those games and her brothers baseball games, she fell in love with baseball, which led to her love for softball. At the age of five, her parents signed her up for t-ball. She went on to play in little league while growing up. It was not until her family was on vacation in Iowa that her dad noticed she had an amazing talent. She started playing with Team USA in 1998 during her freshman year of college, and won gold at a superball tournament. In 2004, she was part of the Olympic Gold Medal Softball team. She also was a silver medalist in 2005 at the Japan Cup and World Cup softball tournaments. In 2006, Jennie had to take a short break because she became pregnant with her first son Ace, but very shortly after, returned to the field on Team USA. In 2008, she was also a silver medalist at the Beijing Olympics, pitching at speeds over seventy miles per hour.
