The Issue The debate over global climate change seems to keep the media outlets buzzing as much as sports, fashionistas, and President Donald Trump. In fact, the debate over global climate change and its alleged impact on the Earth and American industry seem to even grip the President’s administration as Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Scott Pruitt has held the headlines lately with his seemingly absurd and wavering stance on the subject (Bacon, 2018). The strange thing is that both sides of the debate do not seem to disagree on the science of how greenhouse gases can have an effect on the Earth, but the debate begins on whether there is a positive or negative correlation between greenhouse gas effect …show more content…
More so, the IPCC perceives that humans and their activities, especially those that leave a carbon footprint, are clearly having an impact on the climate (IPCC, 2014). In fact, the IPCC (2014) unmistakably believes their data proves to them that the climate is warming since atmospheric and oceanic temperatures are trending increasingly warmer, the sea level trend is on the rise, and global snow and ice tendencies, since 1950, are decreasing on a consistant basis in areas of the world where carbon dioxide emissions have more than …show more content…
The IPCC does draw a very stiff correlation between the temperature of the Earth with the greenhouse gas emissions; however, skeptics try to point to the fact that the Earth’s temperatures are within normal range and that there have been many fluctuations in the Earth’s climate before man ever walked the Earth. However, with must personal debate, this idea seems to just be a silly notion as the Earth is warming at a rate that is completely unprecidented in history (Carlowicz, n.d.). The only noticable piece of the puzzle is that humans are emitting greenhouse gases at a rate that is higher than ever before, and this very bit of data only helps to persuade me to believe that global climate change is very real. It would be easy to be a naysayer and point to the fact that some bits of data were corrupted by individuals that looked to push their own agenda, but how does one make up the difference of opinion when presented with data that shows that atmospheric carbon dioxide is at a historic high while temperatures on Earth are rising at a historic rate also (Down to Earth Climate Change,
