Bernard “Bernie” Sanders is a U.S. senator from Vermont and is a democratic candidate for the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
Election Process: The process of him becoming president is most likely, due to the fact he is gaining more support through social media, democratic debates, etc. On April 30, 2015 during an address on Capitol Hill, he stated that he’s seeking to accept the presidential nomination of the democratic party, and announced, “I don't believe that the men and women who defended American democracy fought to create a situation where billionaires own the political process.”. Also, he‘s recognizing health care and education as natural rights for every U.S. citizen. For the economy, he’s planning to legislate the federal minimum wage to be doubled to $15 an hour by 2020 , to improve life for the working or middle class. His running mate, Elizabeth Warren, told a packed room at Barnes & Noble in New York City's Union Square, “You bet I believe it's a serious threat”. Also, during a campaign rally, she exclaimed, "It is so brazen. If they think they can say in public, 'I don't like your tone, I don't like the way you talk about financial regulation ... I got news for them: bring it on, if they want to fight on either one of those, I'm ready."
Party Platform: Since he is a candidate for the democratic party, their platform is similar to how a liberal thinks, both want to improve the life of every individual. One of the main issues that Sanders wants to improve on is LGBT equality. For equality for LGBT people, he will introduce the Equality Act and the Every Child Deserves a Family Act, to improve life for any LGBT person. Another issue is the economy, we’re living in a world that mostly everything is overpriced.
