Ready to be shocked? There was a boy named Allen Martin who lived in the ghetto of Odessa TX. Allen and his family were always having power outages because of the faulty electrical wiring in the small house they lived in. Because of his family being poor all the time they never had money to hire an electrician to fix the wiring. Allen was hitting the age of 17 already and he knew he could do something about this problem. He went every day to the public library and read up on all the problems they were having. Allen went home and borrowed the tools from a good friend that lived down the street. He fixed all the wiring problems due to his studies on the internet. He realized that he could go to school and become a licensed electrician. …show more content…
For school all you need to get started is a high school diploma or equivalent which is a G.E.D. Most electricians start out going to a technical school. Most schools offer programs related to electrician work. After completing this school you still need to come back through out a year to take classes about laws and procedures that have changed. To learning how to do everything you pretty much have on the job training. Electricians learn through a 5 year apprenticeship program. To complete the apprenticeship you need to complete 144 hours of technical training and a total of 2 thousand hours of paid training. After completing your apprenticeship you can now be a journey man worker which means you can do a job or work by yourself instead of being watched the whole time. To begin an apprenticeship you need to meet the basic qualifications, you need to be a minimum age of 18. You need a high school diploma or G.E.D. Another is one year of algebra, a qualifying score on a aptitude test and pass a simple drug …show more content…

The average hourly wage is $25.75 dollars and hour. And the annual wage is about $53,560. That was worldwide but now were going to compare all of this stuff in different states. Living in Texas there are currently 47,400 jobs for and electrician out there. The hourly mean wage is $21.21 dollars an hour. Currently bringing in $44.110 a year. Compared to living in the state of Florida there are a total of 28,820 jobs. Electricians there are making $19.17 an hour. And currently bringing home a total of $39,870
