What is Autism? We are especially touched by those who are in some way disabled yet people are so quick to judge them. Now place yourself in their shoes. How much would it take for you to leave your comfort zone, and realize that there disability not only affects them but everyone who loves them. We should not judge those with disabilities because they did not ask to have it. There are many different causes and signs for people with autism, and there are some treatment options out there. Over the years, there has been a lot of questions of what causes Autism. No scientist has been able to pin point a single answer. One cause that researchers found was environmental stress in young children ("What Is Autism?").Young children who are exposed to environmental stress are more likely to develop autism. Another cause of Autism that researches found was genetic mutation ("What Is Autism?").Genetic mutation is when they do not have all of the genes that everyone else has. Parents should be watching their baby or toddler because Autism can be detected very young. Signs to look for in a baby or toddler is does not smile when smiled at, does not make eye contact, and does not make noises to get their parents attention ("Autism Symptoms & Early Signs”). In older children doctors look at social, speech and language, and nonverbal communication ("Autism Symptoms & Early Signs”). A sign that doctor look for in social is when they do not know how to make friends or play with other children. Another thing they look for in speech and language is when they repeat the same word over and over again ("Autism Symptoms & Early Signs”). Next, in nonverbal communication they look for when they do not make eye contact. A parent should be aware of all the signs and be watching their child very closely ("Autism Symptoms & Early
