The exact definition of a sport is “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature”(Dictionary.com). This definition shows that there doesn’t have to be teams throwing balls at each other and trying to score goals for something to be a sport. Dance falls perfectly under this definition because it truly is an athletic activity, and it really does require a lot of skill and physical prowess. Looking at the definition of dance which is “a successive group of rhythmical steps or bodily motions, or both, usually executed to music” you can see that dance really fits into the sport category. Lastly, these definitions are the exact epitome of these words and therefore if these fit together so dance should be considered a sport because technically it is. “To say that what they do is not athletic is unfair. On top of all the physicality involved a dancer must make the steps look easy & perform them with a smile on their face. Girls will spend three days at these competitions, and they will not go home from nine in the morning till twelve at night.
