Informative Essay-H Is For Halloween Dance

H is for Halloween Dance The Halloween Dance was one of the best Dances I have ever went to. The Halloween Dance was a dance celebrated on the last weekend of October on Friday. You got to wear a costume to the dance, but the costume couldn't be bloody, it couldn't bring fake weapons or real, and you also couldn't wear a mask. Before the dance, if you are in SAC (a meeting for students and staff only), then you work there, but you can still dance. You can get in for free, but you got to get a slip of paper that says that you been doing good in school. You don't have to bring because they put you on a list. If you don't get it then you pay four dollars. If you want to work at the dance to help set up then you have to go to the SAC meeting

High school is a staple of American culture. Popular culture is littered with high school imagery: cheerleaders at the homecoming game, senior prom, and finally, graduation. It is a major time of growth for adolescents and serves as a stepping stone into the adult world, giving students the skills and experiences needed to be successful later in life. However our perception of high school and the ‘high school experience’ is rapidly changing as alternatives to traditional schooling appear. An excellent example of this is an emerging program commonly referred to as ‘early college high school’, a duel enrollment program that allows high school students to receive an associate’s degree while earning their high school diploma.…

The percussion section of our band was preparing to lose a large number of seniors by the next fall. As freshmen, we had to prove that we could hold our own and continue to represent our section and our band as a whole with complete and utter confidence. During freshman year, we are allowed to compete in a band festival known as the Elkhorn Band Olympics. Anyone who wants to go to E.B.O. is allowed, as long as they are able to prepare a solo, duet, or ensemble. There are numerous students from the surrounding area that sign up to perform at this festival, so ranking high in your designated room is a big deal.…

To be apart of the All Iowa Honor Dance Team is the greatest honor any high school dance team member in the state of Iowa can receive. The honor team is created of 250 girls that outshined the other 500 that auditioned for a spot on the floor. Nothing is more nerve racking than only being allowed two minutes to prove to a panel of judges, without a retry. It’s not a basketball game where a time out can be called and one can try the play again, and if the play fails and the game is lost, another game is right around the corner to try again. This is one chance, one shot that you can’t change.…

With Halloween taking place just about a month ago and me being a first-year college student, I found it suitable to choose a topic that related to both college and the holiday that so many of America’s youth actively participate in these days. So, I began my research; through countless amounts of Google searches and digging through all sorts of news websites, I finally found an interesting article from The New York Times. The title was “Why Halloween at College Is So Frightening” and was written by a man named Mark Bauerlein who teaches at Emory University. The periodical starts off by explaining the scary effects that Halloween can induce on the students and administration across many of today’s college campuses. This is particularly because…

Halloween is like a horror movie, except with drunk teenagers instead of axe murders. It was about two years ago, when we were still living in Germany. It was a fairly peaceful Halloween night and the sun was about to set. My friends and I were walking around the village, what Germans call a town. After about half an hour of us walking around and talking, some acne filled, tall, muscular and older, German teenagers came up to us.…

I had so much to prove, to myself, to my peers, and those who came to watch the show. When the weekend of shows arrived, I had to dance both my ensemble part and my autumn solo. After my ensemble part, I had to sprint off stage, throw my hair into a bun, fastened my warm, rhinestoned crown atop of my head, and tightened my delicately embroidered tutu. Seconds before my solo, I would catch my breath, warm up my feet, stretch, and mentally prepare myself by going over the choreography in my head. The dance before mine soon came to an end, and before I knew it, I was entering the stage, proudly performing the memorized choreography.…

At the age of seven I began studying flamenco dance under the direction of Linda Vega in Santa Barbara. Dancing flamenco for nine years brought so much joy to my life, to my family's life, given me physical and performance skills, and has taught me many life lessons. Every summer Santa Barbara celebrates Old Spanish Days Fiesta, which is a five-day long celebration honoring Santa Barbara's Spanish heritage. There are marketplaces throughout the city, called mercados, where visitors can dine on Spanish and Mexican food, shop for novelty items, and enjoy live performances. We prepared and practiced for a whole year just to perform during Fiesta.…
