Football Safety In the the eyes of the majority of Americans, football has blown baseball out of the water as America’s favorite pastime. The NFL, or the National Football League, brings in $5 billion in revenue each year, which is more than triple the amount that the MLB, or Major League Baseball makes in the same time period. The game of football revolves around violence and the American public has been going back and forth with the football organizations over its safety. Despite it, the game of football is not unreasonably dangerous enough to completely stop participation of the game. This sport can provide many players opportunities that otherwise, they wouldn't have. Boot states that over 32,000 athletes are receiving a college education through scholarships for their athletic skills and performance. This means that over 32,000 students will get a higher education without going into thousands and thousands of dollars in debt, all because of this tremendous sport. While a great many students attend college with scholarships for various skills and intelligence, a great number of these 32,000 kids grew up in rough neighborhoods and a life of poverty. These students couldn’t even dream of getting this kind of education without the help from the game of football. There are sometimes where kids don’t the skills to play at the next level, but that doesn’t mean that playing the sport is just another big risk with no benefits. This sport, in most cases, takes kids off the street and out of gangs that they otherwise would’ve been apart of. Football also forces students at a high school level, to focus in the classroom because if not, they wouldn’t be able to participate in the sport. For those athletes who have the skill level to compete with the best, the game of football provides an average annual income of almost $2 million. Following this fact, it would be almost cruel to rid these young men of a sport that gives them their chance to make it in the
