Informative Essay: Art In The Park

Decent Essays
Families from across Greater Lafayette gathered to celebrate artists this evening.

Art in the Park featured locally and regionally recognized fine arts and crafts, live music and food vendors. People of all ages had something to do at the event. Lafayette Resident Carrie Anderson said the event is a great place to enjoy the vendors and see friends.

My daughter has seen a couple of her friends already and I've seen three or four friends," said Anderson. "Just getting out and listening to music instead of hanging around the house. Its a nice night and the food trucks are great."

Art in the Park is a recurring event through the summer. The next event will be June 21st.

You can attend it for free at Columbian Park on Memorial Island.

The Chicano Park day was eventful because of the community getting together to celebrate the culture and park. It was impressive to see the amount of people that attended the event and how diverse, especially because of the community it is located in I expected it to be particularly the neighbors. In association to the news and the elections, it is important to see the amount of support that the Mexican culture is receiving and together they can withstand anything. On my walk to the park I noticed that it was going to be crowded because of there not being any parking so we had to park down at the trolley station. This is my first time down there for this event, it was impressive because I would have never thought that due to the amount of people…

During the 1880’s, St. Petersburg was a pine scrub village wanting to become a city. Northerner’s relocating to this town transformed it with their new ideas and cultural aspects. In the 1890’s, the location that was soon to become City Park was undesired because of its high grass, mud, puddles, and roaming wild animals. Wanting to make the park part of the community, in 1893 a group of women formed the Park Improvement Association. One of their projects was the William’s Park Bandstand which sits at the front of Heritage Park.…

The event I attended was the Cuentos y Culturas Latinx Heritage Month Showcase hosted by Say Sí. The event ran from September 23rd to the 24th. The performance was only available on the opening days, however the exhibit portion was open to the public for a few weeks after. The performance was an original stage production that portrays one of the creation stories from the Coahuiltecans, who were Native Americans that lived in the southern regions of texas. The name of the production is Napako, meaning “our journey”.…

Elbert Hubbard once said “Art is not a thing; it is a way.” Art is all around us; from the floor we walk on, to the color of the walls around us, to the music we listen to on the radio. Many kids have taken on a lot of different forms that did not exist many years ago. Today, we fill our world with street art not exactly thought about to be art like mimes, circus acts, puppetry, mask theater, vaudeville, and storytelling through movement (Rapp 4). Art is an essential part of our society today and has been for many years.…

The only community event I have had the opportunity to attend so far was the Front Porch Gathering regarding immigration in our community, specifically about DACA recipients. The event began by a representative of the LCCE introducing two DACA recipients who shared their stories about how DACA has given them opportunities that were once unimaginable. It helped set the scene for how impactful DACA is in the lives our youth in our community. At that point, it was no longer just a piece of obscure government legislation that we hear about on the news; it was living and breathing in front of our very eyes. Even though DACA has never affected me or anyone in my family or friend circle, it now felt personal.…

Surprisingly, the chances of getting killed by a grizzly or black bear in a National Park is only 1 out of 2.1 million. Even though bears seem like a daunting threat to campers and tourist bears are fairly harmless to the majority. Therefore, bears should not be removed from National Parks because the parks not only provide food storage, but there are no recorded deaths by bears in Yosemite park, and the bears help disperse berry seeds. One reason bears should not be removed from National Parks is that they store away food in metal lockers around the park.…

The CADA Conference was very influential on me and my beliefs on how to create a better community on campus. I noticed many different things on my trip to the Del Mar Fairgrounds. I would suggest this trip to future ASB members because of how many ASB groups relate to our own. These students at this event relate to us, because of their leadership skills, school spirit, and creative ideas. The main things I learned from the experience is how to generate school spirit, create engaging events, and how to be the best you can be.…

Graffiti is Art What do you consider art? Someone sitting in front of a canvas with a paint brush painting whatever they imagine. Why don’t you consider graffiti as art when it is the same thing, except that the streets are your canvas and a can of spray paint is your paint brush? Graffiti should definitely be art because there are graffiti museums that sell pieces of graffiti for substantial amounts of money.…
