Adelaide Fringe: Adulting
Hi guys, I’m Jack! There is nothing better from the Mad March rather than the Adelaide Fringe. So, today, I’m going to talk about my experience about Adelaide Fringe Festival this year. The Adelaide Fringe festival runs every year from the 18th of February to 18th of March and it’s the biggest ticket selling arts festival with free entrance into the showgrounds! Most years, I attend the fringe together with my family and friends for a fun night out.

So this year, after much contemplations with my friends, we decided to go with a $15 cabaret show called Adulting, and as none of my friends and I experienced the atmosphere of seating in a restaurant while we drink and eat and enjoy the entertainment; therefore, we

She discusses many of the shared anxieties everyone have about getting older, and the expectations placed on us as we reach certain ages. York discusses some deeply personal experiences on her journey into adulthood; such as getting engaged at 19, racked up parking fines worth a house deposit, holding down a job, paying bills on time, cooking your meals (that doesn't involve Maccas drive-thru) and even doing your taxes. Although, when time reaching 25 year old and still not feeling quite ready to have kids or at least considering getting married, and with all other deliberations, it means you haven’t mastered Adulting yet! She then introduces these confessions with hilarious one-liners and witty insights. York has this remarkable voice and the ability to use it at lightning speed whilst improvising, croons, belts out and, even raps her way through the 55 minute singing satire. There are a few depressions in the show’s pace and comedic tempo towards the last half, however it can’t help but admiring the textural, layered quality that has been put into each and every piece of songs throughout the …show more content…
Everyone else was just as in love with the show ‘Adulting’ as with Task York’s fabulous voice and talent. And then all too soon the night drew to an end. A heart wrenching, soul breaking song drew the show to a close with a twist. With tears and laughter in my eyes, I clapped until my hands hurts. Wishing that the night would never end. I found myself caught in an emotional and breathtaking show. Through music that was beyond my imaginations. I imagined the struggle that York was creating and I was enchanted by her every lyric, every movement and longed for that cherished eye contact. I listened as York empathetically addressed her audience. The pain of her own stories of becoming an adult was just as plain in her

I highly enjoyed Kyra Selman cabaret show at Rockwell. She did an amazing job telling a story in a musical genre. Songs that really stood out are I am what I am, Drunken Love, and Black Girl Medley. The reason those songs stood out because most likely they are songs I have heard already, while majority of the other songs in Kyra cabaret I did not recognize and can not give a name. I enjoyed the whole show but the areas where I know the songs help me remember the story.…

week four's video covers Adult and health development, which is comprised of three sections, early, middle, and late adulthood. I will focus mainly on the physical changes, rather than those which are social constructs. Early adult hood generally comprises from our late teens, until early to mid thirties. In early adulthood our bodies are at our prime, and we are generally healthy as long as we eat a balanced diet, and get regular exercise. In middle adulthood Ages 40-50 our bodies' aging becomes more apparent, Our metabolism slows down significantly, making us retain more fat, especially around the waist, abdominal fat is indicative of being at risk for many chronic diseases and disorders, page 103 in our textbook shows that there…

No doubt some of these tales were of romance and carnal desire. Now, I’m not suggesting that you memorize one thousand naughty stories. But if Scheherazade could introduce her- self to a king and become his queen with nothing but her voice and imagination, perhaps you can offer a few wanton words sure to put a tremble in your sweet- heart’s knees. Coming of Age Growing up, I always had everything I wanted and needed. There was never a time where I went without necessities or even things I wanted and did not need. Even though I had all of those things, sometimes I was ungrateful. Losing my father at four was a real challenge for my mom.…

Like many people, I have a reason for almost all of my thoughts and actions, but at a major turning point in my life this changed as did many of my other unique qualities. Before this, I had always kept a positive and secure mind, but I had never thought of the repercussions of keeping my true emotions unexpressed. Feelings of anger and rage (like those of a coming-of-age story), were all that filled my mind at this time, and it was directed towards everyone, not just those who caused it. The worst part of having these feelings was the fact that I kept them locked inside giving no way to express them. I began arguing with my parents, friends, God, and even myself.…

When the word “home” is defined in a dictionary you are given definitions like “the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered” or “any place of residence or refuge” but to me home means so much more. To me, home is theatre. Those who know me well will attest that the change in me throughout this experience is drastic. Theatre transports me to places I couldn’t dream of otherwise and two years ago, I was taken to a place that would change my life forever and theatre transformed to the place I call home. Thoughts and ideas flooded my mind as I stepped into the off-green colored cafeteria.…

    Satirical Performance

Personally, I believe that every person should attend one theatrical performance. Before I became a high schooler, I had attended several performances, granting opportunities to grasp the culture that the fine arts produces. The fine arts has given the freedom to appreciate different worlds, cultures, and societies that are either fictional or true. Regrettably, the fine arts livelihood and strength are not as prevalent as it should be due to the egocentrism of America. Cultural diversity in today’s society has an unquestionable limited presence.…

Blues, classical, pop, and any other kind of music that caught my attention filled my head with notes of strife and peace, with passion and apathy, with every other emotion imaginable running amuck through the mind of a seventh grader. Noise filled the empty hours of everyday, and kept my mind occupied, which was my sole defense against the depressive thoughts trying to leach their cold fingers through my mind. Music started as an innocent hobby, but soon crept throughout my whole life. My first season with the Waterford Wildcat Pride Marching Band was doomed for failure from month one.…

The heat from the stage lights, the watchful gazes of the audience, and the sweat dripping off of our faces as we struggle to remember our lines, these sensations of being on stage are what caused the performing arts to become not only an activity, but also a passion and an unexpected source of personal growth. Through my experiences in drama and music I have been able to discover my own meaning of fulfillment and define who the person behind my appearance truly is. My passion in the performing arts started when I was a young child first learning to play the violin. Picking up the violin at the age of 6, I became stuck on one of the most basic songs for almost a whole year. At that time no one believed that I could play the violin, my teacher thought that I was too hyperactive and even my mom attempted to convince me to quit.…

In times of despair the musical Waitress, music and lyrics written by Sara Bareilles, captures the sadness of true life troubles. The song “She Used To Be Mine” is a great example of that. The main character, Jenna Hunterson, sings this song in sorrow when she has an abusive husband and an unwanted pregnancy. During this song, she is hurt, lost and is trying to find herself again. This is why I decided to translate this piece into a teenager’s perspective with issues teenagers face in today's society as a realization of what some may have to go through.…
