Transferring to high school, Changes, Coming out as gay
The person I interviewed is Kevin Valenzuela and he's 13 years old he goes to VISA high school and he's currently a freshman. These were the questions I asked and it lead me to learn more about him.
Where are you from, any siblings?
“ My mom is from DF,Mexico and my dad is from Sinaloa.” Kevin was born in california and grew up with two other siblings. “ I have a 20 year old brother and a 12 year old brother”. He also has two cousins who go to the same highschool as him. “ I have a cousin who's a sophomore her name is kate and I have another cousin who's a senior her name is Lizett.”
Do you enjoy having relatives in the same school as you? Kevin is in high school and starting fresh, back at the bottom as “fresh meat.” I'm sure having siblings/relatives is helpful and a little less nerve racking. “Yes, but I only see them when I walk around, it's good though because they can help me with any questions I have.” This I would say it oddity because it's not that common that you have relatives in school, like most students have siblings but not a lot have cousins.

Kevin felt scared and worried for being who he was. But, luckily today's society is more accepting .He found courage to finally let his friends and family know. “ when I decided to come out gay, I was scared to tell all my friends and family. When the time finally came to tell them I started debating whether I should even go through with telling them. I told them I was gay and I was surprised by their reaction because, they felt okay with it and accepted me for who I was, and all my worries went away.” This is newsworthy because it's impacting someone , if kevin has the courage to come out at such a young age it can also inspire others, therefore impacting someone else's life. It could also be human interest, because it's affecting someone else's
