Informational Interview

Katelynn I completely agree with you. If I could have done informational interviews before when I was in school I believe it would have had a major impact on my career path. I will add to the points you touched on in your post, that informational interviews can also be to not only understand the job you are looking for, but once you narrow that down it can provide details on what is need and expected within that job. having someone in that job currently will allow you to find out if that job is indeed right for you. It was an interesting, jovial and interesting interview session with Mr Shane. Speaking to him thought me a lot more about Concordia, and specifically the liberal arts aspect of Concordia. The explanation he provided on liberal arts, and how it impacts our lives not just in school, but also outside of school made me see the importance of it. Mr Shane's explanation of liberal arts gave me a different perspective of it both In theory, and in practice. Before this interview, my knowledge of liberal arts quite limited.…

This interview took place in Dean Vargas’ office. As a first year advisor in the school of engineering, she has been busy in the past month assisting first year students in picking which type of engineering they are most interested in and helping them to plan their schedules for the upcoming year. This meant that she did not have the time to meet somewhere else. If this were not a factor, I would have suggested meeting in a cafe as that would have caused Dean Vargas to view me less as one of her many students and more as an individual woman, coming to her for assistance in navigating the unique set of circumstance women engineers need to navigate. I believe that as a result of holding the meeting in her office and not in a secondary location,…

These students have a higher chance of suspension, which causes a loss of information due to days of missed instruction (Stagman & Cooper, 2010). Services are available to combat the issues, but almost eighty percent of students with issues do not receive any services for their behavioral issues (Stagman & Cooper, 2010). Many times, mental health services are needed for these students. Leadership Interview I recently had the opportunity of interviewing Mr. Maity who has more than ten years of experience in leadership positions within his organization. He started his career after grad school with a small non-profit research organization. His leadership abilities were quickly realized and he became a part of a large company as a Project Manager. He recalls that in his first job, the small size of the company and the nature of operations meant that soon after joining the firm, he started taking up multiple responsibilities with many being outside of his core functional role. This valuable learning experience has allowed him to excel in his current leadership position.…

After having a meeting with her, I learned exactly how important research is to the discipline. Information from research is usually produced by the classical methods: statistical data and analysis, interview data, and survey data, like stock prices.…
