I learned that grades are not the only factor that can get you a job, and extracurriculars has a huge effect too. I learned that even though business seems like an easy degree it is just a myth and it can be a really challenging degree, I learned that sometimes when people look happy they not always are and even though it seems like some people like what they are doing in life it’s not always true. A lot of things surprised me in the interview but the one thing that surprised me the most is that even though my cousin choose his degree and he is working in this field for the last 10 years he still was truthful and he told me that even though he likes what he is doing he will still advice me to pursue a career in engineering. It really surprised me that instead of advertising what he is doing and trying to convince me that the career he chose is the right career he chose to give me his honest opinion. Something I’m concerned about is that now after this interview I’m confused about my future again, because before the interview I was almost sure that I’m leaving engineering and moving to Economics or business but now I’m undeclared again and I feel like I need one or two more weeks of exploring before I could actually make the decision of moving or staying in engineering. The two things that I will take away from this interview to inform my decision about a major/career is that happiness is a big factor in choosing a career but even though I was always sure that people in business are having more fun than engineers It’s not always true. The second thing I learned from the interview is that I need to make a decision about my degree as soon as possible in order for me to have time to actually get involved in the different activities that are connected to the degree I chose
