The electronic health record (EHR) plays an important role in homecare based practices. It is so easy to lose or misplace nursing notes, physician orders and patient’s personal information as you visit different homes. This system helps organize day to day work flow and keeps records from being lost or missed place. Interoperability allows multiple entities to exchange data without changing the original meaning of the information. (Freedman 2007; Mead 2006; Schwend 2007). Using this type of technology, will provide efficient and safe care to the patient’s.
Describe the steps or process taken to select the software The CEO is responsible for the information systems (IS) strategic planning and the need to create administrative efficiencies by mergers or requests. (Glaser 2006). CEO makes the final decision but works together with the committee to determine the organizational needs. The company formed a polite project and reached out to other companies who were currently utilizing an electronic health record (EHR) system.
