Information Revolution and Technology:
Information revolution encompasses the central resources of production in addition to how information and knowledge can be exploited in order contribute to sustaining a competitive advantage (Coulter, 2013, p. 35). Innovation not only directly influences an organization but also is vital to an organizations sustainable competitive advantage. Through the use of information revolution, Hooker furniture has recognized, formed and than made strategic decisions accordingly, that have directly impacted their ability to succeed and compete in an industry that is highly competitive. For example, “recognizing the profound shift toward e-commerce, online research, and the influence of social media”, Hooker adopted an all-digital management strategy. Further, to support their all digital marketing efforts, Hookers redesigned consumer-centric websites, offer responsive platforms conducive to both mobile and traditional computing platforms which attracted new demographics such as “younger, urban-minded consumers”, and lead to improved consumer engagement. Listed below are some of the ways in which Hooker employees have used information revolution to create innovative means in efforts to compete and capture a sustainable competitive advantage.
