The purpose of this study is for experimental research. The authors continually state that the information regarding music affecting purchase decisions in a commercial environment is very limited. However, there are various similar studies mentioned in the case. This is further confirmed since the scales used were based on a previous secondary data. The researchers are ultimately trying to identify if certain being music played in a commercial environment causes changes in purchase decisions.
2. Identify the research strategy (e.g., McGrath’s circumplex) and research design (e.g., X’s and O’s) employed. Do they appropriately address the researcher 's question(s)?

Discuss the pros and cons (strengths and weaknesses) of the research strategy and design used. Include in your discussion the main threats to the internal and external validity of this research. Also, be sure to explain how these threats may have operated to influence the study results. What are the limitations of this research in addition to those you identified with respect to the research strategy and design (e.g., researcher-experimenter effects)? Can you generate alternative interpretations of the researcher 's results? [Note: Please make sure you discuss 2 threats to internal validity and 1 threat to external validity]

Pros and cons to research strategy and design:
Conducting a field experiment is beneficial because it would allow for experimenters to see how subjects respond to the experiment in a natural context. Although utilizing a lab experiment instead may have allowed for better control in order to better to determine causation.
Using a static group comparison can be beneficial in regards to determining the effects of the treatment of the three focus groups in comparison with the control group. However, selection threat is significant in this study since there is demographic data that may not have been controlled.
