Informatics is a technology term in today’s health care system. It deals with the science of computer information systems. When speaking of informatics in relation to an academic field, it involves the practice of information processing and engineering of information systems. The science of informatics according to American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), 2015, “drives innovation that is defining future approaches to information and knowledge management in biomedical research, clinical, and public health (AMIA, 2015).” This work in informatics serves to create new solutions using technology that enhances biomedical science, the health of the populace, and the quality and safety of care providers deliver to individuals when they are ill (AMIA, 2015). Therefore, Software and Applications, Health Informatics Management (HIM), and Clinical Informatics (CI), in this order, have the greatest impact on informatics. Now, let us take a look at how they serve in relation to health care.
